Evaluation of modified Cenchrus americanus starch as disintegrant in formulation of chlorpheniramine maleate tablets

Further washing sedimentation done until became white. dried 40 °C, defatted using Petroleum-Ether, air dried, sized (125µm) characterized standard methods. MCS used 5, 10 15 w/w as formulation granules granulation method. Primogel similar concentrations comparing standard. Characterization densities flowability done. Chlorpheniramine compressed from these evaluated uniformity weight, hardness, disintegration time, assay dissolution. Results showed poor flow powder while exhibited good flow. minimal variation hardness (6.06±0.10 - 8.07±1.31 kgF), time (< 7 min), friability 1 %), dissolution more than 80 within 30 min. compared favourably primogel met British Pharmacopoeia set limits.
